What does a hydrocolloid pimple patch actually do?
Hydrocolloid is an absorbent material originally developed for wound care. When placed over a surface-level pimple, it absorbs fluid and creates a moist, protected environment over the area.
It also forms a physical barrier between the spot and everything that can interfere with it, including makeup, dirt and, most importantly, your fingers.
As the patch absorbs fluid, the centre may turn white. This doesn’t mean it has “pulled out” the entire pimple or magically cured acne. It simply shows that the hydrocolloid has absorbed moisture and exudate from the blemish.
