Why Does My Skin Feel Dry Even in the Summer?
Hot weather, humidity and sweat can make your skin look shiny, but that doesn't always mean your skin is actually hydrated. In fact, summer can be one of the sneakiest seasons for dehydration, especially if your skin is already dry, sensitive or mature.
When most people think of summer skin, they picture a healthy, dewy glow. So it can be confusing when your face suddenly feels tight, rough, flaky or like it needs a serious drink of water, even when it's so warm outside.
The truth is, dry and dehydrated skin are not the same thing.
Dry skin is lacking oil and is a skin type, whereas dehydrated skin is lacking water. You can have oily skin that is dehydrated, dry skin that is dehydrated, or mature skin that struggles with both.
Why Skin Gets Dehydrated in Summer
1. Sun exposure increases water loss
Longer days outside mean more UV exposure. Even when you do not visibly burn, UV exposure can weaken the skin barrier and contribute to transepidermal water loss, which is the process of water evaporating from the skin.
When that happens, skin can start to feel tight, less elastic and more easily irritated. For mature skin, this can also make fine lines look more obvious because dehydrated skin does not reflect light as smoothly.
2. Air conditioning dries everything out
Air conditioning feels amazing in summer, but it also removes humidity from the air. If you spend your day moving between hot outdoor weather and cold indoor air, your skin is constantly trying to adjust.
That dry indoor air can pull moisture from the surface of your skin, leaving it feeling tight by the end of the day.
3. Sweat is not skincare
It is easy to assume that if your skin looks shiny or feels damp, it must be hydrated. Unfortunately, sweat is your bodyβs cooling system, not a moisturiser.
As sweat evaporates, it can leave skin feeling drier, especially if your barrier is already compromised from sun, air-conditioning, exfoliating too often or using strong actives.
4. Salt water and chlorine can strip the skin
Beach days and trips to the pool are the fun parts of summer, but they can leave skin feeling dry and uncomfortable. Salt water can draw moisture from the skin, while chlorine often disrupts the natural oils that help keep your barrier comfortable.
This is why your skin can feel rough or tight after swimming, even if you have been surrounded by water all day.
The Best Summer Skincare Strategy: Hydrate, Support, Smooth
For dry, dehydrated or mature skin, the goal is not to pile on thick creams and hope for the best. The goal is to replenish water, help your skin hold onto it and keep the surface smooth enough for your products to absorb well.

Step 1: Replenish water with Dewy Glaze Toner
After cleansing, your skin is perfectly prepped for hydration. Dewy Glaze Toner is a Korean essence toner designed to flood skin with lightweight moisture, using 84% birch sap, three types of hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich berry extracts.
It gives dehydrated skin that fresh, juicy feeling without heaviness, stickiness or the need to over-layer richer products.

Step 2: Support the barrier with White Truffle SoufflΓ© Serum
Hydration only works if your skin can hold onto it. White Truffle SoufflΓ© Serum is a milky serum that helps nourish dry, dull and tired-looking skin while supporting a softer, more resilient barrier.
It is ideal for summer because it gives skin comfort and cushion without feeling greasy or heavy under sunscreen.

Step 3: Gently exfoliate with Cinnamon Toast Sugar Scrub Foam
If your skin feels dry and rough even after applying hydrating products, dead skin buildup may be part of the problem.
As we age, natural skin turnover slows down. That means dry, flaky cells can sit on the surface for longer, making skin look dull and stopping your hydrating products from absorbing as well as they should.
Used once or twice a week, Cinnamon Toast Sugar Scrub Foam helps gently buff away buildup so skin feels smoother, softer and more receptive to the rest of your routine.
Your Simple Summer Hydration Routine
Morning: Cleanse, apply Dewy Glaze Toner, follow with White Truffle SoufflΓ© Serum, moisturiser and sunscreen.
Evening: Cleanse, apply Dewy Glaze Toner, follow with White Truffle SoufflΓ© Serum and your moisturiser or sleeping mask.
Once or twice a week: Use Cinnamon Toast Sugar Scrub Foam to gently smooth away buildup and help your hydrating products work harder.
Healthy Summer Skin Starts With Hydration
The secret to glowing summer skin is not chasing trends or layering on more products than your skin can handle. Instead, it's important to actually understand what your skin needs.Β
If it feels tight, flaky, dull or suddenly less bouncy in summer, it may not need something heavier. It may just need more water, better barrier support and a gentle reset.
With the right routine, your skin can feel juicy, comfortable and bouncy all summer long.
Because glowing skin is not just skin that looks hydrated. It is skin that actually is.
